More Than Book Sales

Programs and Events

There are several ongoing programs and services that the Friends of the Chaska Library sponsor.  For a listing of current programs at the Chaska Library please check the Carver County web site and look for the Chaska branch. The web site is www.carverlib.org

Below are programs we are committed to supporting financially at the Chaska Library.  Additional programs and events vary from year to year.

  • Summer Reading Program
The Summer Reading Program encourages children and teens to continue reading through the summer months to maintain their reading skill levels.  The Friends of the Chaska Library provides funds for this program including free books for participants.

  • Lucky Day Collection
The Friends of the Chaska Library purchase bestseller books and they are made available in our Lucky Day Collection.  Often these best -selling books have a long hold list.  If the book you are looking for is on our Lucky Day shelf you can check it out without the wait.  These books are marked as part of this special collection.  The checkout period is 14 days with no renewals or reserves and only one Lucky Day checkout per library card at a time.  The next time you are in the library it might be your “Lucky Day.”

  • Staff Appreciation
We sponsor a yearly luncheon to show appreciation to our library staff for their service to the community.  We also want to thank them for the extra effort they put in during our book sales.

  • Community Events
Friends of the Chaska Library supports the library during such community events as Hooked on Books and Chaska’s Hometown for the Holiday celebration.  During the Hometown for the Holidays celebration we provide volunteers, refreshments, and monetary support for special activities within the library.

  • Fundraising
Book sales are held twice yearly with occasional pop up sales.  Donations of used books and media are accepted year-round as space permits.   You may leave your donations at the front desk with tax receipts available.  Thanks to everyone for their continued support of our book sales.

  • Bountiful Basket Free Books
While it isn't technically considered an "event" we make sure that the Bountiful Basket Food Shelf in Chaska has an assortment of Free Books available to those they serve.
